Courtesy of Bethel Woods Center for the ArtsJohn Fogerty was already confirmed to perform at the Woodstock 50 concert on August 16, and now the ex-Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman has signed on to celebrate the 1969 festival’s 50th anniversary at a second event.

Fogerty will play a headlining show on August 18 at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, the Bethel, NY venue located at the actual site of the ’69 Woodstock Music and Art Fair. The concert, which will feature as-yet-unannounced special guests, will be part of Bethel Woods’ A Season of Song and Celebration festivities commemorating Woodstock’s 50th anniversary.

Fogerty’s show will serve as the finale of the venue’s Anniversary Weekend, coinciding with the exact 50th anniversary of the festival.  It’ll also feature concerts on August 16 and 17 headlined, respectively, by Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band and Santana.  The original festival ran from August 15–18, 1969.

As with Fogerty’s other 2019 shows, the Bethel event will feature a set list that includes many of the same songs that Creedence Clearwater Revival played at Woodstock, when they followed The Grateful Dead onstage in the early morning hours of August 17, 1969.

Recalling the performance, Fogerty says, “By the time we hit the stage we were ready to rock…but as I looked down into the crowd I quickly discovered, the Dead had put the entire audience to sleep! That’s OK, it was late, so I focused my whole set on this one guy, way out in the crowd, who yelled to me, ‘That’s OK John, we’re with ya!'”

Tickets for Fogerty’s Bethel concert will go on sale soon. As previously reported, Woodstock 50 will take place August 16-18 in Watkins Glen, New York. To check out John’s 2019 tour schedule, visit JohnFogerty.com.
