FilmRise/MVD Entertainment GroupBachman, a 2018 documentary about founding Guess Who and Bachman-Turner Overdrive member Randy Bachman, will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on May 10.

The film delves into the 75-year-old Canadian rocker’s life and multifaceted career through rare archival footage and new interviews with Randy and some of his famous musical friends, collaborators and admirers.

Among the other stars appearing in the documentary are Neil Young, Peter Frampton, Rush‘s Alex Lifeson, Fred Turner, Paul Shaffer and Canadian folk singer Buffy Sainte-Marie.

“He was like my biggest influence when I was a kid,” Young says of Bachman in the film. “Watching him play guitar, he had an amazing sense about the way he played. And the feeling that you got when you listened to him…it was more than just chops.”

Among the classic songs Bachman has written or co-written are the Guess Who hits “These Eyes,” “Undun,” “No Time” and “American Woman,” and the Bachman-Turner Overdrive classics “Takin’ Care of Business,” “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet” and “Roll On Down the Highway.”

The Bachman: Special Edition DVD and Blu-ray contain a number of bonus features, including a trailer, a clip of Young talking about Randy’s hometown of Winnipeg, and footage of Bachman working on a rendition of “Here Comes the Sun” from his 2018 George Harrison covers album By George, By Bachman.
