Clifford tells ABC Radio that he and Cook, who both turned 74 last month, have multiple reasons for wanting to stop touring.

“Traveling on the road just takes a toll on your body and mind,” Cosmo explains. “We both have grandchildren, and it’s time to do something else also musically. And so, we’ve made the decision…[and] we’re just sort of celebrating each night as we count down to the final show.”

Creedence Revisited current trek is lined up through a September 28 concert in Yakima, Washington, but Clifford says it likely will extend into 2020.

“I think there’s a short tour of New Zealand [and Australia] in January, so…we’re gonna expand it into the following year,” he says. “That’d be a great way to finish. We love it Down Under.”

After the trek ends, Clifford admits, the band still is open to playing one-off gigs, “if there’s something really special.”

Clifford and Cook formed Creedence Clearwater Revisited in 1995, over 20 years after their old band broke up. Doug tells ABC Radio that the initial plan for the new group was to do it for five years, depending how fans responded to it.

“The public embraced us right off the bat,” Clifford notes, “and here we are 25 years later, five times the five-year plan.”

Doug says touring with Creedence Revisited has “been very enjoyable, but everything has its time to end.” He adds, “[W]e’ve achieved what we planned to do…and kept the music out there in front of audiences.”
