Courtesy of Chipster PRFormer Yes keyboardist Rick Wakeman recently announced the initial dates for his first North American solo trek in 13 years — set to kick off September 21 in Annapolis, Maryland — and now the prog-rock legend has added eight shows to the end of the tour.

The new concerts run from an October 16 show in Seattle through an October 27 performance in Orlando, Florida, and also include stops in Portland, Oregon; San Francisco; Los Angeles; and Atlanta. Tickets for the eight new dates will go on sale this week. Visit RWCC.com for more information.

Wakeman’s trek, dubbed The Grumpy Old Rock Star Tour, will feature the 70-year-old Rock & Roll Hall of Famer playing solo piano versions of Yes classics, material from his solo albums, and well-known songs by other artists that he contributed to, including some early David Bowie hits.

Rick also will present his arrangements of a few Beatles tunes at the concerts, and entertain audiences with his trademark bawdy jokes and “ludicrous tales.”

The tour currently features a total of 22 concerts, and is expected to eventually include 25 dates.

Prior to the North American trek, Rick will play a series of solo “Piano Odyssey” shows in the U.K. He also has scheduled a pair of special orchestral performances of his 1974 album Journey to the Centre of the Earth on July 13 and 14 at London’s Royal Festival Hall. These concerts will be the final U.K. performances of that album.
