ABC/Byron CohenPoison‘s Bret Michaels has shared the sad news that his father, Wally Sychak, died Sunday morning after suffering a heart attack last week. According to The Daily Item, Sychak was 85 years old.

On his official website, Michaels posted a heartfelt tribute to his dad, writing, “He was a great guy & loved by all. He was a veteran who loved this country, people, family, golf, betting on them horses, a cold beer & long drives. My father was a dreamer, he was my warrior, my friend & most important my Dad.”

Bret also revealed, “After being resuscitated five times the doctor said he has never seen anyone in my Dad’s serious condition fight like he did.”

He then addressed his father directly in his note, saying, “Dad you said be strong no matter what, but this pain in my heart & soul hurts so bad at the moment…so bad. I miss you already, we all do. I love you always Dad & I will see you one day on the other side.”

Last Thursday, August 1, Michaels’ website reported that Sychak had suffered cardiac arrest and “was being kept alive by life support.” In the wake of his father’s health crisis, Bret rescheduled two concerts — an August 2 show in Orlando, Florida, and an August 3 performance in Rock Hill, South Carolina, which were moved, respectively to August 23 and August 24.

Just eight days before his passing, Sychak had attended his son’s July 27 solo concert in Sunbury, Pennsylvania. On the day of the show, Sychak told The Daily Item, “It’s always exciting to see how many lives [Bret] has touched…There is no place I would rather be than here with him tonight.”

Michaels’ next show is scheduled for Wednesday, August 7, in Sturgis, South Dakota.
