“Unfortunately I’ve had to leave the current SMKC tour due to emergency surgery for a detached retina,” Fitz tweeted Monday night. “It leaves me heartbroken to not be able to play the last week of shows.”

“I will miss everyone but just know that the mighty Shane Gaalaas has come to save the day on drums!” he adds. Gaalaas has played with artists including Michael Schenker, Yngwie Malmsteen and Uli Jon Roth.

Earlier this summer, Conspirators guitarist Frank Sidoris dropped off the band’s European tour to be with his wife as she goes through chemotherapy. He’s since returned to the group.

Slash and the Conspirators are touring the U.S. in support of their new album, Living the Dream. The outing continues Tuesday in Nashville.
