Parlophone

ParlophoneDavid Bowie‘s VH1 Storytellers concert special will be released on vinyl for the first time on October 11.

The set, recorded August 23, 1999 in New York City, featured rare performances of the songs “Can’t Help Thinking About Me,” “Drive-In Saturday” and “Word on a Wing,” which Bowie had not played in 33, 25 and 23 years, respectively.

“We were used to dealing with legendary musicians,” says VH1 Storytellers executive producer Bill Flanagan. “Still, landing David Bowie was more than a big booking. There’s no way to say this without being corny: It was an honor.”

“Bowie has a unique place in rock & roll,” Flanagan adds. “He is not only one of the most influential musicians of the era, but he does nothing unless he is fully committed.”

The upcoming two-LP collection will also feature four bonus tracks not included on the original CD: “Survive,” “I Can’t Read,” “Always Crashing in the Same Car” and “If I’m Dreaming My Life.”
