Eddie Money has decided to go public with the fact that he’s been diagnosed with stage four esophageal cancer.

He reveals the bad news in an advance clip from his AXS TV series Real Money.  He received the diagnosis last fall.  The remaining six episodes of season two will deal with the effects that Money’s diagnosis has on his wife and their five children.

Money’s diagnosis seems dire: Not only is the cancer in his esophagus, but it’s also in his liver, his lymph nodes and, to a lesser extent, in his stomach.  But he explains that he had no intention of trying to keep the news a secret, despite the fact that the diagnosis, he says, “hit me hard.”

“I don’t want to keep the fact that I had cancer from everybody,” says Money. “It’s not honest. I want to be honest with everybody. I want people to know that cancer’s come a long way and not everybody dies from cancer like they did in the ’50s and the ’60s.”

“Am I gonna live a long time? Who knows? It’s in God’s hands,” he continues. “But you know what, I’ll take every day I can get. Every day above ground is a good day.

The “Two Tickets to Paradise” rocker is also recuperating from health issues following his heart valve procedure in June.
