Titled “Once This Was a Road,” the melancholy tune features Ward and at least one other member of the group trading lead vocals, with simple accompaniment by a strummed acoustic guitar.

“Once This Was a Road” follows the release last month of a new Bill Ward Band song called “Arrows,” which was put out to mark the second anniversary of the mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest festival in Las Vegas that killed 58 people.

Later in October, Ward released a couple of other new songs with his side group, Day of Errors — “Dark” and “Ghost Train.” Day of Errors is a heavy-metal outfit that also features Kill Devil Hill singer Jason “Dewey” Bragg and guitarist/singer Joe Amodea.
