Cleopatra EntertainmentMelody Makers: The Bible of Rock ‘n’ Roll, a recent documentary about the influential U.K. music magazine Melody Maker, will be released December 17 on video-on-demand platforms and DVD.

The film includes interviews with The AnimalsEric Burdon, Jethro Tull‘s Ian Anderson, Nazareth‘s Dan McCafferty and Yes members Chris Squire, Steve Howe and Alan White, as well as photographers, writers and editors who worked for Melody Maker, which ceased publication in 2000.

Photographer Barrie Wentzell, who worked for Melody Maker from 1965 to 1975, shares a variety of anecdotes from his time at the magazine, including the time The Who‘s Pete Townshend told him about an idea he had for a new concept album called Tommy before the band had started recording it.

The documentary also will be shown at Arena Cinelounge in Los Angeles from November 29 through December 5, while a special screening will be held at the theater on Monday, December 2, at 6:30 p.m. PT that will feature a Q&A with director Leslie Ann Coles.

Since its 2017 premiere, Melody Makers has won awards at 10 different film festivals.
