The Invisible Man — Elisabeth Moss stars in this new take on the H.G. Wells‘ classic science fiction novel in which she plays a woman convinced she’s haunted by the titular character, her abusive ex-boyfriend, who’s figured out a way to become invisible, which makes it that much easier for him to terrorize her.  The InBetween‘s Harriet DyerStraight Outta Compton‘s Aldis Hodge and Euphoria‘s Storm Reid co-star.  Rated R.

Opening in limited release on Friday:

Burden — This film, set in the South during the 1990s, is based on the true story of Mike Burden — played by Garrett Hedlund — an orphan raised by the Ku Klux Klan, who later falls in love with a single mother who convinces him to leave the organization behind.  Forest Whitaker plays Reverend Kennedy, a black pastor who takes in Burden after he leaves the Klan.  Andrea RiseboroughDexter DardenCrystal R. FoxTess Harper and Tom Wilkinson also star.  Rated R.

Greed — This satire about the world of the super-rich stars Stan & Ollie‘s Steve Coogan as a self-made British billionaire who throws an extravagant 60th birthday party for himself to save his fashion empire.  Isla Fisher also stars.  Rated R.

Wendy — This re-imagining of the J. M. Barrie classic Peter Pan follows a young girl who’s kidnapped and taken to an island where she develops a friendship with a pleasure-seeking young boy with whom she swirls in and out of youth as the ecosystem around them spirals toward destruction.  Wendy and Peter are played respectively by newcomers Devin France and Yashua Mack.  Rated PG-13.
