Joe Robot Records/Warner RecordsThe Network, not to be confused with the band Green Day, has released a new EP.

The four-track collection, titled Trans Am, is available now via digital outlets. It includes the previously released single, “Ivankkka Is a Nazi.” You can watch the video for the title track streaming now on YouTube.

In a world that includes Green Day and also bands that are not Green Day, The Network might be the most not Green Day band of all. Sure, the members look exactly like Billie Joe Armstrong and company wearing masks, and they sound exactly like the punk trio playing new wave music. But none of these things, not even the fact that bassist Mike Dirnt said Green Day was The Network in a 2013 interview, mean that The Network is Green Day.

“We had often been mistaken as the planet’s greatest rock n’ roll band, Green Day,” The Network says in a statement. “This earthly comparison is almost as comical as the humans that inhabit this dying planet!”

The Network released their debut album, Money Money 2020, in 2003. According to a press release, a follow-up album, Money Money 2020 Part II: Told Ya So!, will be “unveiled” December 4.
