John Lanza; ABCDave Grohl received quite a nice gift from Axl Rose after the former lent the Guns N’ Roses frontman his giant stage throne.

You may recall when Grohl fell off the stage and broke his leg during a Foo Fighters show in Sweden back in 2015, only for him to heroically finish the concert while a medic held his leg immobile. For the subsequent tour, Grohl sat on stage in a giant, guitar-adorned throne that he designed while “high” in the hospital.

Then, in 2016, Rose broke his foot during GN’R’s very first show with Slash and Duff McKagan back in the band. So, naturally, Rose borrowed Grohl’s throne to sit in during Guns’ much-anticipated Not in This Lifetime reunion tour.

As Grohl now tells Classic Rock magazine, Rose paid him back for the assist with a brand-new guitar, and even had Slash go pick it out.

“He picked me an early-’60s Gibson ES 335 Dot, which to this day is the nicest f***ing guitar I have ever played in my life,” Grohl shares. “It was an incredibly kind and classy gesture, and I was very appreciative.”

Sadly, Grohl doesn’t mention whether he plays the guitar on the upcoming Foo Fighters album, Medicine at Midnight, due out February 5.
