The Berrien County Board of Commissioners has accepted a grant to help make Silver Beach County Park a bit safer this summer.

At a meeting this week, the board approved the grant from the Michigan Municipal Risk Management Authority’s Risk Avoidance Program to help with the cost of new surveillance cameras to be installed at the beach.

The Berrien County Parks Department has been awarded $8,500 which will come with a county match, making the total cost of the new cameras $17,185.

The county applied for the grant last year.
